 Greetings, my friends. I'm Tara Brach and I want to welcome you to this ten-day forgiveness course on Insight Timer. I'm really excited to be offering this program because waking up from the trance of judgment and blame has been so central and freeing on my path and I've seen how it's brought healing to so many others. As many might know, in Buddhism forgiveness is the prerequisite to loving fully. One way of understanding forgiveness is never putting another person or ourself out of our heart. As we know, we often move through the day creating separation, judging or blaming people for the ways they treat us or others and just as much we're at war with ourselves, often critical, unforgiving and unkind towards our own being. So the course starts right here with self-compassion, looking at the practices that help us forgive and accept ourselves in the face of that daily sense of falling short as well as forgiving ourselves when we've been living with deep self-condemnation. Then we'll extend that compassion to others, those who are close, those who've wounded us, those we don't know, those who may no longer be alive. Through the ten sessions I'll ask each of you to honestly scan your life and identify where you create separation through judgment, resentment, aversion and we'll practice together the most powerful reflections and meditations I know that cultivate a forgiving heart. Your dedication to waking up in this way is one of the greatest gifts you can offer yourself and your dear ones. In a global way I think we know forgiveness is the medicine humanity most needs to bring more peace, more understanding to our world. Imagine for a moment relating to yourself and others with genuine acceptance, including all imperfections, all of what we are. This open-heartedness is our potential and our courage to forgive, to release armor surrounding our heart, frees us to love without holding back. I hope you'll join me.
