This course is designed as an introductory guide to the creation of your own short story – one in which your voice will be seen and heard. 
I have written this course as an empowering tool to use when collating your memories and experiences. This course may be used over and over again as you revisit each separate experience to further understand and make peace with it. 
In this course, you will use one significant moment from your past as a starting point to revisit and create the outcome you want. 
This course is written by an author and qualified teacher of English Literature. It draws upon her experience of writing which spans 25 years plus. Please note: LIVE session every Friday take place to compliment this course. They are also available as free tracks if you cannot attend at the time.

Writing Your Own Story – Empowerment Through Your Pen

Welcome to my introductory writing course. This course is designed as a guide to the creation of your own story, one in which your voice will be seen and heard. As we progress through each of the three lessons, we will learn how to craft an effective narrative that does both us and our story justice. Each lesson is a guide to writing one scene. This short story will consist of three scenes. I have written this course as an empowering tool to use when collating your memories and experiences. This and the intermediate course it precedes may be used over and over again as you revisit each separate experience to further understand and make peace with it. In this course you will use one significant moment from your past as a starting point to revisit and create the outcome you want. Throughout this course we will look at the importance of effective setting, themes, characterization, plot and dialogue. By recording these elements carefully, we will do justice to our experience and applaud our accomplishments. We will be writing in the first person, me, I, as though the main character is not necessarily a hundred percent ours. Just as Charlotte Bronte wrote Jane Eyre in the first person, it did not make her Jane, but many of the incidents Jane experienced were mirror images of moments in her life, so she was well placed to draw on them to make the story as authentic as possible. Our main character will be a version of us but essentially fictional. This will allow us to gain perspective and a further understanding of the significant events that have shaped who we are today. It is truly a pleasure to be able to share this course with you. I know from experience that by working through this writing practice you will be able to step back from and so make peace with that which may have sat unaddressed in your mind for many years.
