This course lays the foundations for the practice of Wuji Zhan Zhuang (Qigong standing meditation in the basic posture of "Wuji"). It is appropriate for both beginners and experienced practitioners. While the name "standing meditation" may imply a limitation to standing, the practice and the course are accessible from a seated position as well.

The course is organized into seven weekly segments. Each week, I introduce a specific focus ranging from elements of posture, energy, and breath. Using an inquiry-based approach, I guide you to explore aspects of the practice. At the end of each session, I include a 5-minute guided practice of Wuji Zhan Zhuang. My invitation to you is to spend one whole week with each segment: continuing daily with the Wuji Zhan Zhuang practice and bringing particular awareness to the focus of the week. In this way, you are not only developing a greater awareness of your body and energy but also a consistent daily practice that will serve you well beyond the course.

The benefits of Wuji Zhan Zhuang are far-reaching and include, to name a few, improved posture, relaxed alertness, greater physical/mental/emotional resilience, finding internal strength and energy, and feeling more balanced and less reactive in your life. Standing Like A Tree (Foundations Of Qigong Standing Meditation)

Hello and welcome. My name is Margeta and I thank you for your interest in learning to stand like a tree. I developed this course with two intentions in mind. The first was to introduce you to the practice of wuji zhan zhuang. This is a foundational practice of qigong standing meditation. And the second intention was to help you develop a daily practice. With these intentions in mind, I organized the course into seven segments and I suggest that you spend one whole week with each segment. In each segment I introduce a specific focus ranging from elements of posture, energy, or breath. A focus for our wuji zhan zhuang practice that week. I use an inquiry-based approach. I guide you to explore this aspect of the practice and then I offer a five-minute guided practice of wuji zhan zhuang. My invitation to you is to dedicate one whole week to each segment. And every day during that week, or as many times as is appropriate for you, practice wuji zhan zhuang for as little as five minutes a day, focusing on that particular element that we are exploring that week. In doing so, you will gradually deepen the awareness of your body and your energy, and also you will build the habit of a consistent daily practice which will be beneficial to you long beyond the course. In closing, I'd like to say that while this practice is called standing like a tree, and it may imply that the practice must be performed standing, you can receive this practice just as well from a seated position. So if standing practice is not appropriate for you, you are welcome to go through this course and practice seated. The benefits of wuji zhan zhuang are many. I'm just going to name a few which include improved posture, greater resilience, emotional, physical and mental, less reactivity, tapping into your internal strength and energy. And really my approach and my invitation to you as you go through this course is to notice how the practice is moving beyond the practice space.
