Who is this retreat for?

Yes, you will want to have at least begun a practice of yoga. However, the yoga I teach, while challenging to each individual, will be accessible to practitioners at every level.

Is yoga experience necessary?

The Himalayan Institute is a dry campus, and the consumption of alcohol, drugs, or other illicit substances is not permitted. The campus is also meat-free, and the consumption of meat is not allowed during the retreat. Designated smoking areas for cigarettes are available outside the main campus. This policy helps maintain the retreat’s focus on wellness and mindfulness.

Can I consume alcohol or drugs while on this retreat?

We'll enjoy daily nature walks on one of the four groomed hiking trails on campus. On Saturday night, we’ll gather for a cozy bonfire with tasty s’mores under a star-filled sky. There’s also a beautiful pond on campus available for a refreshing swim.

The retreat takes place on the picturesque 400-acre campus of the Himalayan Institute, nestled in the serene Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. For over fifty years, the Himalayan Institute has been a sanctuary for those seeking inspiration, personal growth, and inner balance.

Our sessions will primarily focus on Hatha Yoga, deeply rooted in the wisdom of the Himalayan Tradition. You’ll experience a blend of mindful movement, meditation, and restorative practices to support relaxation and renewal. Additionally, we’ll incorporate fitness-style movements aimed at building strength, enhancing vitality, and helping you move beyond physical and mental blocks.

What type of yoga will we practice?

Comfortable clothing, a yoga mat, suitable footwear for walking/hiking, and an open mind! A detailed packing list will be provided upon registration.

What should I bring with me?
