What can I expect from my time at Aro Ha?

Aro Ha provides a chance for anyone from all walks of life to come and participate in a journey into wellness. No matter your age, gender, or level of ability, we are always happy to discuss how we can ensure that the programme is suited to you.

Who is Aro Ha for?

If you want to participate fully in all aspects of the retreat, we do recommend a moderate level of fitness. However, the hikes can always be shortened, and classes swapped out for time spent in the spa or sauna.

Am I fit enough to attend the retreat?

The majority of guests tend to come on retreat alone. Choosing to come to Aro Ha on your own can provide you with the opportunity to immerse yourself more fully in your wellness journey. However, some guests also choose to share the experience with someone special, such as a friend, their son or daughter, partner, etc.

Do people come on their own?

Although you are welcome to come as you are, there is, in our opinion, some essential preparation which we believe will greatly improve your experience.

- Refrain from caffeine, cigarettes, and alcohol one week prior to your arrival. Doing so will greatly reduce potential symptoms of detox (e.g., headaches, etc.)
- Commence some high-intensity exercise a week or more prior to arrival. A mix of cardiovascular and strength training is ideal.
- Make sure you have broken in your hiking/trail running shoes before you arrive.

How should I prepare for my retreat?

Yes, there are no additional costs at Aro Ha. However, you do have the option to book additional treatments at check-in, which come at an extra cost and will replace other scheduled sessions. Please note, our shared shuttle on Arrival and Departure Day is included in your retreat price, but any taxi transport outside of this is not covered.

Is a retreat at Aro Ha really all-inclusive?

We are always happy to accommodate any dietary requirements that guests may have. Our plant-based menu at Aro Ha has been carefully designed to meet your needs while you are on retreat, leaving you energised, cleansed, and inspired. Our menu is plant-based, dairy-free, and gluten-free.

Do you cater for specific dietary needs?

All guest rooms at Aro Ha have access to high-speed internet. However, we encourage you to switch your devices off and disconnect as much as possible to embrace the technology fast. With this in mind, we do not have Wi-Fi in any of the public spaces.

Will I have access to the internet?

On arrival day, we offer a scheduled transfer to Aro Ha from either Queenstown Airport at midday or downtown Queenstown at 12:30pm. On the final day of the retreat, we will make sure you are back in Queenstown by midday.

Aro Ha’s menu is plant-based with an emphasis on garden-to-table. The menu is designed to be nutrient dense with diversity and variety in dishes, all packed with the colours of the rainbow. This allows us to tune into the seasons and play with what is available.

Our wellness chef’s prepare the dishes with a therapeutic approach, creating meals that are detoxifying, rejuvenating and healing, as well as, delicious and beautiful.
