This Guided Couples Breathing Meditation is designed to enhance your intimacy and connection with your loved one. Gradually increasing embodied awareness and deepening the intimacy between you and your partner. Practising this meditation regularly releases oxytocin and strengthens the neural pathways of connection between you and your partner.

Breathing In Presence With Your Partner

 For this couple's practice it's helpful to make sure that the space that you're in is comfortable, that you've got the right mood to feel relaxed and connected. You want to be sitting quite close together. If you've got your legs crossed it would be so close that your knees would be touching so that you're directly connected and facing each other. So if you haven't already done that, pause this and go ahead and set that up now before we begin. So closing our eyes we're going to begin by deeply breathing in through the nose, filling up the lungs, pressing into the belly and slowly exhaling, letting go of the belly, expelling the lungs, coming up and out through your nose. Become mindful of the sensations moving through your body. Get a sense of any sensations that might be calling out to you or any feeling that there might be some energy moving in ways that you hadn't noticed before. Take your right hand and bring it up and place it gently on your heart and place your left hand on your left knee. Be willing to feel your partner's presence from where you were sitting. What can you feel from here? What do you notice breathing deeply so close and connected with your eyes closed? Gently open up your eyes. Look into your partner's eyes, gazing deeply. Stay with their eyes as best as you can. See and feel their gaze. If you notice yourself disconnecting, redirect your attention to their gaze and to their presence. Now begin to sync up your breath with your partner's. As they breathe out, you breathe in. And as you breathe out, they breathe in. Just like you're exchanging breath with each other. I invite you to start to breathe a bit slower and a bit deeper than you were breathing before, but not forced. Just deep, full and gentle, but most importantly in sync with the rhythm of your partner's breath. The aim of this is to stay in presence with your partner. Keeping your eyes connected with each other, gently place your right hand on your partner's heart. Notice any shift in feeling that comes from this change. Stay synced with your eyes and with your breath. Honour the exchange you're having with your partner by staying present. If you find it useful, you can slowly think and feel the words, receiving love as you breathe in and giving love as you breathe out. Receiving love, giving love, receiving love, giving love. Look like this for a couple of minutes. Always returning to feeling the sense of presence. Presence and connection between you through your eyes, your breath, your touch. And now we're going to let go of the practice. So when you're ready, let go of the instructions that I've given so far and just take a moment to be with your partner, however you feel to be. And if it feels right, lean in and embrace each other with presence, with sincerity, savouring each moment together.
