It has been used by several medical facilities and offers a soothing, comprehensive exploration of this process with cellular and psychological imagery. Healing Surgery: Guided Imagery & Affirmations

 Welcome to Healing Surgery. I'm Linda Cedarleaf and this audio is created to help you prepare for your medical procedure using the power of your imagination to calm your nervous system and enhance your healing process. Just as athletes use visualization to prepare for their events, you too can use this powerful process to prepare your mind, body and spirit for this important time in your life. Research has shown that practicing relaxation and guided imagery can decrease side effects and shorten recovery time. It's most beneficial to do this practice at least once a day. We'll start by focusing on what you envision as the best outcome for your procedure. So now just taking a minute and settling in. Perhaps putting your hand on your heart, feeling your heart beating, becoming aware of your breathing and then aware of an image of a healing light shining down from the top of your head and flowing through every cell, every organ, every inch of your body. Breathing in and imagining now looking off in the distance and seeing a movie screen or stage. And on that screen or stage you see yourself after your surgery in the best state of health that you can imagine. Connecting now with what you feel in your body, what you see yourself doing, who might be there with you on that stage. And just allowing that image to become clear in your mind. The more senses involved, the clearer the image becomes. So just noticing what you see and hear, taste, smell and touch. Who is this person post surgery? And now slowly coming back to awareness of your body, aware of where you're sitting or resting. Hand on your heart, connected with your breathing. Coming back now with a clear image of who you want to be post surgery. And this image will be your guiding force as we now continue with our meditation. Allowing your body to become comfortable in the ways that you know best, aligning your head and neck and spine. Continuing to breathe deeply, letting go of anything that no longer serves you in this moment. Releasing that which will clear the way for healing and transformation of your body, mind and spirit. As you breathe in now, imagine a healing light shining down from the top of your head all the way down to the tips of your toes. Healing and soothing every cell, every organ, every inch of your body. In this light is your life force, that which is within you and has always been a part of you. Your life force knows just how to bring back your body into balance, how to heal. Just as it has done in the past, your life force is recreating new tissues and cells. And now this healing force, as well as your spiritual connection, are right here with you. Taking a moment now to open to this wise presence within you and knowing that this healing force within your body will work together with your healthcare team towards your recovery. And becoming aware now of a circle of loved ones surrounding you with their caring comfort and support. Perhaps imagining now seeing their faces, feeling their presence, soaking in their support. Reminding yourself that this love and comfort and safety is with you both when you're awake and when you are asleep. And now picturing your unique healing place where you feel safe and comfortable. Imagine now sitting or lying down in a beautiful sanctuary. It's just the right temperature and you can hear your favorite soothing sounds or perhaps perfect silence. As you breathe in your favorite smells and take the time to notice and enjoy the surroundings of your healing place, the colors and shapes of this calming oasis and knowing that you can modify anything in order to completely settle into this peaceful interlude in your life. And when you're ready, begin to let your awareness carry you forward into the time of your upcoming surgery. Allowing yourself to become an observer, seeing yourself reclining in your carefully prepared hospital bed. Aware of your needs and communicating these needs clearly as you move through the process. Picture and imagine now being with your healthcare providers as they prepare you for the procedure allowing yourself to open to and receive their care. Calm and relaxed. Deeper and deeper into a state of relaxation. Being aware now of the anesthesia as it moves to the parts of your body that need it at this time. Really connect with the feeling of allowing the medication to soothe and relax you as you now open to a deeper place of calm. Remembering that you're supported throughout the surgery, that your own life force is always monitoring your bodily functions. Remembering again your loved ones and imagine their comforting smiles and gentle words of encouragement. And knowing that your body is creating a new pattern. A pattern which surrounds you with your own protective shield. And this shield is a soft membrane allowing in whatever supports your recovery needs. And it filters away anything that impedes your healing and your health and well-being. Taking a few moments now to sense into this resource just for you. This shield of healing, this bubble of protection helping you to establish the necessary boundaries for your recovery. Trusting that you will relax into a deep sleep as you prepare for your procedure. And knowing that you can practice and rehearse this experience of being in a very deep sleep. And in this deep sleep you'll be aware that you're close to your healing circle and your spiritual connection throughout the whole procedure and throughout your recovery. Knowing now that your body is free to release the patterns that no longer serve your health. You are releasing the patterns that initially created the imbalance in your system. And again knowing that as you complete your procedure you are creating new pathways for healing in your life. Your body knows just what to do to bring you to wellness. As the surgery comes to completion and you return to the recovery room. You wake gently allowing the anesthesia to continue to fill all the parts of your body that need its powerful touch. Your body sends nourishment to the healing site. Sending new cells for healing. New cells to carry away any debris. Your breathing and heart rate will normalize. Your lungs will clear. Blood pressure and body temperature will normalize. Muscles relaxing. Digestion calming. Body chemistry balancing. And at the right time your appetite will return so you can take in nourishment again. And you will become thirsty so that your body can be restored with hydration. Bowel and bladder will also return to function. Your body, mind and spirit are assisting you to full and complete healing. Supporting you in recovery so that you can return to your favorite activities. Picturing and imagining now seeing yourself as you enjoy one of those activities. Aware of your body functioning well. Enabling you to participate with ease. And taking some time now to deepen into this vision of the best outcome for your procedure. Placing your hand on your heart. Feeling your heart beating. Becoming aware again of that healing light surrounding you. Embodying this light during and after your procedure. Focusing on how you want to feel emotionally and physically. Tuning into that sense of your healing self. And now thanking your body for the healing miracle of its recovery. Knowing you can return to this healing practice whenever you wish. To deepen the work you have already done for a safe and effective recovery. Filled with calm and peace and hope. We will close this meditation now with these affirmations for healing. In this moment I choose to trust my body's wisdom and its ability to heal. In this moment I envision my body healing and strengthening before, during and after my procedure. My surgical site is healing. My blood is circulating well. Clearing and cleansing and rejuvenating every organ. Every cell. Every inch of my body. I am returning to normal bowel and bladder functioning at the right time. The food I eat and the liquids I drink support my health and healing. I am staying hydrated and my body is thirsty for healthy fluids. My digestive system is settling and recalibrating to nourish me effectively. During the procedure the anesthesia moves through my body and effectively supports me. Afterwards my body releases the anesthesia at the correct time so that my mind clears and I am ready to move forward with my life. I trust that any discomfort before, during and after the procedure is managed with the support of my healthcare providers, my positive attitude and the appropriate medications or supplements that I am using. My body fully receives the medication and supplements for the sake of my healing. I support my body's healing process with the choices I make each day. I stay in tune with my body's needs and compassionately care for myself just as I would for a child who is hurting. I will allow myself to rest as much as I need in order to rebuild and rejuvenate. I am learning to listen deeply to the wisdom of my body. As I listen I receive answers and inspiration needed to guide me to recovery. My time of rest is a sacred opportunity to release unrealistic expectations and tune into my authentic voice. I now feel myself surrounded by a circle of support and allow this support into my body, mind and spirit so I can fully receive this healing energy. I choose each day to inspire my mind and heart with positive images, supportive beautiful music and connection with people who care for me and encourage me. I remember to connect in some way with nature each day to receive its wisdom and inspiration. I meditate or pray. I feed my spirit with poetry and art and words that fill me with light and hope and courage. I let go of worries and fears that do not support my healing journey. My body is enfolded by a wise discerning shield that keeps unhealthy energy away from me and allows in all the support available to me each moment of my life. I set boundaries for nurturing myself and helping me stay on my path of healing. I am returning to my dreams and they inspire me to focus on my intention for living out my purpose for being on this earth. I am healing. I am ready for the next step. I am never alone. Therefore I choose to trust that I do have what I need to take these next steps for continued hope and healing. I do what I need to do in order to continue. You You You You
