This is a short and simple introduction to both Human Design and the Gene Keys. I share what these two systems are, how they are connected and how they can be used as companions to understand yourself more deeply.

Human Design And The Gene Keys: An Introduction

Hi, I'm Katherine Schwartz and I create spaces for women to deeply connect to their intuition and from that place to create a life, an impact that is a true expression of themselves. And I use human design and gene keys a lot in my group journeys and retreats. So I wanted to take a moment here to talk about what these two systems are, how I see them as connected, and how I weave them together. Let's start with human design. So human design is a download received by a man named Ra-Uru-Hu and it actually weaves together four different ancient wisdoms. So layered within your human design chart are elements of Western astrology, the Chinese I Ching, the Kabbalah tree of life, and the Indian chakra system. Human design takes your birth data, so your day, time, and location of birth, and it generates an energetic blueprint of your soul's purpose. Big words, I know. Visually speaking, when you look at your chart, there is a body graph in the middle that represents all of your energy centers. And I like to invite people to understand, even if you don't know anything else about human design, when you're looking at the body graph, anything that is lit up in your chart, colored in, it represents a unique energy that is consistently within you that you are here to share with the world. And anything that is white or open or undefined in your chart is where you're receiving energy from the people around you, the environments you're in, and the transits that are happening in the sky. So your energetic blueprint is a dance between these colored in places where you are being asked to trust yourself more deeply and to share more of who you are, while also being aware of where you're receiving energy from the world around you and being most impacted by others. Now within the body graph, there are 64 gifts, one through 64. And these each represent a different energetic quality or trait. And again, based on your birth time, you'll have certain gifts that are lit up in your chart that you consistently have that you're here to share with others. Now Richard Rudd, who is the creator of Gene Keys, was a student of human design, and he had his own download about each of these 64 gifts. So when you hear the language, 64 gifts, 64 gates, 64 Gene Keys, they're essentially each describing a particular energy just being translated differently depending on what system you're in. That's part of why I love using both human design and Gene Keys, because when you're exploring a certain element of your design, I really invite you to trust your body and trust your intuition about the language that is resonating with you most. Like what really feels true to you? What feels like an easy access point? And on some days, the human design description of a particular gift might feel clunky or inaccessible or far away or not really like you. That's okay. We can look at the Gene Keys description of this gift and see if that feels more like you, if it rings true, if it feels more accessible. I love giving the option for your body to really feel into what's true for me right now, because in different seasons of our life, different elements of our design are really going to speak to us in different ways. I really don't see these systems as all or nothing or dogmatic in any way. It's really about pathways into deeper self-awareness. I really have been playing with, experimenting with both of these systems for a number of years now. I really feel like they're companions to understanding myself more deeply. They are unbiased third parties that show you a mirror of who you are or give you a particular pathway to explore. Like human design suggests that this might feel easier to me in my day-to-day life. Okay, let's try that on and see if that's actually true. So they give pathways, they give invitations, they're companions to exploring who you are. Because ultimately with these systems, both of them say that your purpose is not what you do. Your purpose is who you are, no matter what you do, who you are in everything that you do. They really invite us to see our purpose in this lifetime as becoming more of ourselves, more fully, authentically, uniquely ourselves. So if I were to really oversimplify how I might weave both of these systems together, I often like to look at human design when I'm exploring questions of how. How can I move through my day with more ease and less resistance? How does my intuition uniquely speak to me? How can I make decisions that are in alignment with my purpose? It's all these beautiful contemplations about how to be in alignment. And then the gene keys I turn to to really dive into what. The gene keys give so many beautiful layers to each gift. How the shadow shows up in different ways, what the gift feels like, what the qualities are of the gift, what the enlightened state is of the gift. And what I love about gene keys is really this guidance that when we notice the shadow frequency of one of our gifts, it's not an invitation to like dive into the shadow and solve it or fix it. It can really just be like a gentle signal that actually there's a beautiful gift of yours that wants to come online here. How can we see where the gift is already unfolding, where you're already embodying the gift? Let's focus more on the love frequency and less of the fear or the shadow connected to this gift. They're connected. We're not trying to get rid of the shadow, but the shadow is our way into the gift, into higher frequencies. So also gene keys, I really love that it gives different context for where the gifts show up in your life. So depending on what you're exploring or what season you're in, it can give just different language and context of which gifts to focus on, explore, contemplate, play with in your day-to-day life. So I love both of these systems so much. I hope that this was a simple, soft, easy access point for you to start exploring your own relationship to human design and the gene keys.
