English

Find peace and truth in this meditation that blends mindfulness with the ancient wisdom of the Mystics. The Mystics were seekers of the deepest truths of existence and they sought these truths by having a direct experience with the Source of All Things, through inner contemplation or meditation. Their wisdom crosses all religions and philosophies.

Mindfulness And Mystic Wisdom

Hello I'm Nicole Bayliss and welcome to this mindfulness meditation where we're going to be meditating mindfully on words of wisdom by the mystics. Who were the mystics? Mystics were philosophers or spiritual seekers and teachers. They came from many religions and backgrounds. They were and still are the seekers of the deepest truths of existence and they seek these truths through inner contemplation or meditation. And in this way they seek to have a direct experience with the source of all things. And so the words that they spoke are not just trite affirmations of positive thinking but truths that came to them directly through their deep communion with the source. In this meditation I will give you time to meditate mindfully between each truth so in the space you may want to contemplate the words or focus on your breath or the spaciousness within and all around you. With every statement take in whatever resonates with you and let go of the rest. So let's begin by getting comfortable, feeling into the body and noticing the in-breath and the out-breath. Coming into stillness, into silence and feeling and sensing the spaciousness within you and all around you. A spaciousness like the sky, your thoughts, your feelings and the outside sounds of the clouds moving across the sky. And you just focus on the sky. Now let's begin. If you want to see things just as they are then you yourself must practice just as you are. Dogen Zenji. If you cannot find the truth right where you are, where else do you expect to find it? Dogen Zenji. Do not follow the ideas of others but learn to listen to the voice within yourself. Your body and mind will become clear and you will realize the unity of all things. Dogen Zenji. Do not be disturbed by the clamor of the world which passes like a shadow. Claire of Assisi. Do few things but do them well. Simple joys are holy. Francis of Assisi. The soul does not grow by addition but by subtraction. Meister Eckhart. The most important hour is always the present. Meister Eckhart. The most necessary work is always love. Meister Eckhart. You are rewarded not according to your work or your time but according to the measure of your love. Catherine of Siena. Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire. Catherine of Siena. The universe is not outside of you. Look inside yourself. Everything that you want you already are. Rumi. Maybe you are searching among the branches for what only appears in the roots. Rumi. You are not a drop in the ocean. You are the entire ocean in a drop. Rumi. There is the music of heaven in all things. Hildegard of Bingen. Nature does not hurry yet everything is accomplished. Lao Tzu. If you realize that you have enough you are truly rich. Lao Tzu. Let nothing disturb you. Let nothing frighten you. All things are passing away. Teresa of Avila. Patience obtains all things. Teresa of Avila. All shall be well. And all shall be well. And all manner of things shall be well. Julian of Norwich. And taking a deep and cleansing breath in and out. Surrendering now into the stillness. Bearing witness to the spaciousness within and all around you. Feeling into your body. Opening your eyes whenever you're ready. Thank you for joining me on this meditation.
