New Moon Radiance: Setting Intentions For New Beginnings

Welcome, my name is Shona and this is a meditation that you can use on any new moon. As you begin, find a comfortable seat or settle in lying down. If you'd like, use a blanket or bolster to support your body, making this time feel as soft and welcoming as possible. This is a perfect moment to pause, to rest in stillness and to set an intention for yourself under the gentle energy of the new moon. As you rest here, know that this time is yours. The new moon marks a powerful beginning. It invites a moment of quiet reflection, a blank slate, open and ready for whatever you'd like to cultivate. During this meditation, you'll be guided to connect with that sense of newness within, to release what's no longer needed and to plant seeds of intention for what's to come. Begin by noticing any sounds around you, allowing them to come and go without holding on to any one in particular. Perhaps sensing the weight of your body resting on the earth and noticing how it feels to simply be supported, inviting your awareness to the gentle rise and fall of your breath and sensing the subtle rhythm within. Maybe you notice fragrances in the air or even a lingering taste, inviting all senses to ground you into this moment of quiet presence. Allow a gentle awareness of any thoughts or feelings that may be present within you. There's no need to engage with them. Instead, observe them from a place of stillness, like clouds drifting across the sky. If any emotions or thoughts surface, simply acknowledge them, then let them settle as you bring your attention back to the space within you, a space of quiet openness. A space of quiet openness. As you sit or lie here, begin to sense your body tuning into the connection between your body and breath. Let your focus rest on the head, then move down gently to your hands, your abdomen and chest, and finally your feet. Let each part soften, feeling a gentle release in the muscles, like a sigh of relief flowing through you. Sense this openness in your body and your feet, like a sigh of relief flowing through you. Sense this openness like the body is resting and inviting stillness into each area. As the new moon represents new beginnings, gently invite a sense of curiosity within, with openness and kindness. Ask yourself, what do I wish to cultivate in my life? What seeds am I ready to plant for this new cycle? Let these intentions arise naturally, without any need to force or shape them. It might be a sense of calm, a renewed joy, resilience, or any quality of peace and tranquility. That feels meaningful and right for you in this moment. As these intentions settle within, begin to imagine them as a soft, radiant light resting in the center of your heart. This light is warm, nurturing and alive, like a small flame glowing steadily. With each breath, feel this light gently expanding, growing with warmth and energy, growing with warmth and energy, filling your heart with a sense of possibility and purpose. With every inhale, feel the light continue to expand, radiating outward, filling your chest, softening and relaxing each area it touches. Allow it to flow gently from your heart center into your shoulders, arms and hands, filling you with the essence of your intention. Feel it reaching down into your abdomen, your pelvis, your legs, and all the way to the tips of your toes, filling your entire body with a sense of renewal and clarity. Now let the light expand even further, moving beyond the boundaries of your physical form, extending softly into the space around you. Feel this glow expanding outward, a gentle aura of your intention, radiating like a soft halo, reaching further into the space around you, creating a cocoon of light, filling your entire body with the essence of your intention, creating a cocoon of light, peace and purpose. Hold this sense of vastness, allowing your intention to exist in this boundless space. Imagine this light flowing freely, connecting you to everything around you, a reminder of the infinite possibilities that the new moon offers, of the openness that exists in each new beginning. For the next few moments, for the next few moments, allow yourself to rest in stillness, simply breathing with this sense of newness, holding that intention close. Let any need to control or shape the experience dissolve. Trust that by planting this seed, you've already set your path. When you're ready, allow the light to gradually return, gathering gently back towards your heart. Feel it becoming smaller and smaller, yet still as vibrant and warm, until it rests once more as a glowing pin of light in your heart center. Know that this light remains within you, a quiet flame of intention you carry forward, always ready to nurture and guide you, a constant companion throughout each day and each breath. And when you are ready, bring your attention back to the gentle sensations of your body resting on the earth. Sense the support beneath you, perhaps feeling the touch of the air around you on bare skin. Perhaps feeling the touch of the air around you on bare skin. As you carry this intention into your day or evening, remember that it's with you, ready to grow at its own pace.
