For this brief moment, you are part of something ancient and ongoing ~ receiving, breathing, and returning. In this soothing mindfulness meditation, you’ll be gently guided back to your body, your breath, and the quiet presence of this moment.

Through gentle breath awareness and reflection, you’ll be invited to experience each inhale and exhale not simply as something you do, but as a gift you receive and a gift you give back.

The Journey Of Your Breath ~ Mindfulness Meditation

Welcome to this meditation. I'm LisaJ. Thank you for taking this beautiful opportunity for your body to find a moment of rest right now, right here. Your body is so busy most of the time. So, let's quiet your mind. and allow me to share with you my ideas on breathing. I find it to be an absolute miracle, this breath of ours. We've been given the privilege to handle it with care. The breath you take in is ancient. Let's think about this. It's been part of the world for a very long time. that air you breathe in. It changes form and it travels through countless spaces and places. Perhaps the breath that you just took in had once moved through the hills of ancient Greece. Perhaps it rested among us. the Andes Mountains and then along its front range. And maybe, and most likely, it has been carried by ocean winds. and touched a forest after a rain. or even... The breath of yours that you just took was the very first breath of a newborn entering the world. And now that air, this breath. It is here with you. And this means each breath you receive is a gift. and each breath you release becomes a gift back to the world. continuing on its way. on its journey. So let's meditate together. Find yourself in a comfortable position. Settle in, take the moment you need to find that. Now slowly and with gentle kindness. Close your eyes. Breathe in and breathe out. at your own pace and at your body's comfort. While you do that, relax your toes. Soften the arches of your feet. and loosen your ankles. dangle your fingers. Quiet the palms of your hands. Relax the tops of your wrists. And now loosen your tongue in your mouth. and all that is around it will naturally follow. Inhale slowly and deeply through your nose. expanding your chest and pulling the breath deeply into your belly. Hold for a moment. Release with a long sigh. Let's do that again quietly together. Continue breathing in and breathing out at your own pace. And at your body's comfort, just make sure you're doing it slowly. And I'm going to return in five minutes. during the time that I'm away. that you're breathing. Know that your mind may wander and that's perfectly natural. because meditation is not about stopping your thoughts. It's about the awareness. of where your thoughts have gone. It's about noticing and noticing when your thoughts have drifted away. so when you notice that. Gently ask your thoughts to return the attention to your body and to your quiet, deep breathing again and again. Okay, so let's begin. beautiful breath of yours. It's continuing on its journey through you and back out to the world for centuries to come. the gift of breath you've been given. is now a gift that you are sharing. and when you feel ready. Gently open your eyes. Thank you for being here together with me. Namaste, my friend.
